Jaylene’s Response to LER #4

Posted by jaylenebrass on April 2, 2009

This was a very difficult question in this LER for me to answer. My eyes have been opened to so much that it has made me feel like I was BLIND in the past. Where was I all this time and why were my eyes so closed to everything going on around me? It truly is unbelievable to me! Read the rest of this entry »

Monica’s Response to LER #4

Posted by monicanorris on March 31, 2009

This semester has been an intellectually stimulating and eye-opening journey for me. This class has extended beyond the walls of our classroom and into both my personal life and my role as an educator. The journey hasn’t always been easy, some nights the subject matter was downright sad and disturbing but it was just what I needed to shake up my comfortable middle class existence.

When I first saw this quote (on Marc’s office door) it didn’t mean too much to me and I didn’t really understand it. The quote has taken on deep and significant meaning for me since taking this class.

The trouble is that once you see it, you can’t unsee it. And once you’ve seen it, keeping quiet, saying nothing, becomes as political an act as speaking out. There’s no innocence. Either way, you’re accountable.

Bryce’s Response to LER #4

Posted by brycelbuchanan on March 31, 2009

Dr. Bill Ayers makes a wonderful starting point for me as I reflect personally on this class as an educator and as a citizen. Dr. Ayers touched on many interesting points, but often came back to the importance of action. Not only action, but action that is analyzed and critiqued by the individual. LER #4

Posted by podco on March 29, 2009

Using Dr. Bill Ayers as a starting point, how do you, as an educator and citizen, make sense of all the readings, guest presenters, discussions, in fact, the course experience itself, as you take a
retrospective look back at our collective journey?

As always, you may respond via any sign system of your choosing.  When doing so, please
provide an explanation, or roadmap if you will, of the thinking behind your response.

Feel free to respond to as many of your colleagues’ posts as you wish.

Responses are due Monday, April 6.

Terry’s Response to LER#3, Question 1

What an honour to hear from both of these men. Even with the technological challenges both ‘visits’ experienced, it really seemed to be an intimate atmosphere; just us hanging out with Dr. Chapela and Bill Bigelow. Read the rest of this entry »
