As an educator of First Nations students, culture plays a major role in my teaching philosophy. Elders, students, parents, extended family and community members help to support First Nations to develop and implement a comprehensive holistic educational system inclusive of First Nations languages, world views, values, beliefs and traditions with exemplary academic standards, under First Nations jurisdiction. Similarto Dr. Bill Ayers class lecture where he  argues for education and comments how “every human being is of incomparable value. Education is both a right and a journey, a right because you have to have equal access to it and a journey because we set parameters, ways of nourishing and challenging the whole child.” Read the rest of this entry »
